The Municipal Museum of Beautiful Arts of Junín was born in 1943, when the sculptor Angel María de Rosa donated to the city a great amount of works of his responsibility, and those that brought of their trips to Europe. Valuable donations of artists who were De Rosa's friends were added to those works. The first years of the museum were of fight, as much for their founder as for their collaborator, Juan Donato Comuni, also sculptor. The collection suffered successive transfers due to the lack of an own place, and both had to evolve like directors, secretaries, employees and artists. But, in spite of the difficulties the museum grew, and in 1978 its permanent building was inaugurated where the Municipal Market worked before. The building, constructed in 1907 and considered one of most beautiful and representative of the city, was totally recycled |
